With the technological advancements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it has become essential to integrate health sector units with the electronic drug tracking system (Rased), which is managed by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
What is the Electronic Drug Tracking System (Rased)?
The Electronic Drug Tracking System aims to track the location of each registered human drug unit distributed across Saudi Arabia. It does so by identifying each location with a Global Location Number (GLN) and each drug package with a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) and the serial number encoded in a 2D barcode (Datamatrix).
Through this process, the SFDA will enhance patient safety by combating counterfeit and falsified drugs, as well as controlling the distribution of drugs that have been discontinued or recalled.
The system will track every transaction in the supply chain, from production or importation to consumption.
