Fortex Program Explanation: Scales in Fortex

The Vortex program supports electronic scales (MOTEX, CAS, ECLASS, BOSS). For the program to work with electronic scales, first, select the type of scale and set up the code format generated by the scale to be compatible with the program.

Go to SettingsBasics.

First: Choose the scale type from the dropdown list, for example, MOTEX.

Second: Prepare the coding format as follows:
CCCC
55CCCCXPPPPPX

  • 55: The code starts with the section number, which is determined by the scale. This code is changed based on the scale’s programming.
  • CCCC: Usually, the scale code consists of 4 or 5 characters, depending on the scale type. The length is determined by the number of “C” characters; in this case, the code length is 4 characters.
  • X: An empty field that is filled with the value 0.
  • PPPPP: Refers to the number of price digits. In this case, it is 5 digits.
  • X: An empty field that is filled with the value 0.

Select Price including tax if you want to include the tax value in the price on the label.

Note: The scale item code can only be read in the Point of Sale program.

Don’t forget to save after making the adjustments.

Now, you must define the database for the scale program. Go to SettingsScale Settings.

Click New, then enter a description for the scale and specify the path of the database associated with the scale program to establish the connection between it and the Vortex program, facilitating the update process.

For the items, you must specify that the item is a Scale Item and that the code length matches the scale code settings (e.g., 4 characters as per the previous settings).

After entering the items, the final step is to update the scale program’s database. To do this, go to the Items menu and select Update Scale.
